The Permanent/Full Time Library Technical Assistant I reports to and is administratively supervised by the Program Assistant. Assists the Librarian in performing a variety of library tasks such as book circulation, book acquisition, catalog classification, physical upkeep of library material, and book inventory. Assists patients and staff in finding library resources. Makes daily contact with large numbers of patients and hospital staff and must decide which of their queries to answer directly and which to refer to the Librarian; and to do other related work, including but not limited to the following duties:
• Delivery of services.
• Assists Librarian in a wide variety of clerical and procedural tasks.
• Assists Librarian with processing library resources.

2. BE TRANSFER ELIGIBLE: Have current employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable (employees who wish to be considered based on transfer eligibility must meet the minimum qualifications of the classification per DPA Rule 250), OR
3. BE REINSTATEMENT ELIGIBLE: Have obtained previous permanent employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : EITHER I: Equivalent to completion of the requirements for an Associate of Arts degree in Library Science OR II: Two years of increasingly responsible subprofessional library experience, including work in book acquisition, cataloging, reference, and compilation of bibliographies.
